Robyn Lee Jepson is a woodwind player and teacher who lives in Cape Town, South Africa. Her specialties are the saxophone, recorder and clarinet. Robyn holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Cape Town as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. She studied saxophone under Shannon Mowday and Mike Rossi and took master classes form Doug Masek, Mark Ginsburg and Dan Shout. She studied recorder under Barbara Warner Smith, and clarinet with Becky Steltzner and later Vickie Wei. Robyn has performed at various corporate functions over the years with the Mike McCully’s tribute band. She is in the Trilogy Jazz Band and has her own duo, Dolce Duo that performs regularly. Robyn has taught at various local schools in Cape Town since 2007. These include The Jazz Workshop and Rustenburg High School for Girls. She currently holds the position as director for the Sans Souci Jazz Cats. Robyn has a passion for teaching and passing on her knowledge and love for music. She has taught students of various ages and abilities as well as a few with physical and learning disabilities. Her view is that music is a universal language that all can appreciate and learn and there is nothing better than seeing a student discover this. She believes that it is imperative that students gain enjoyment and satisfaction from their playing. By putting on regular performances of her own and allowing ambitious students to take part, as well as inviting other well-known local performers to participate, Robyn provides a platform whereby her students are able to get a taste of what it is like to be a professional musician. Robyn recently joined the Wriggle and Rhyme team and opened a branch in the 3rd term of 2015. Wriggle and Rhyme offers classes for babies age 6 months to 18 months and toddlers age 18 months to 3 years. This exciting aspect of the studio means that music really is offered from the youngest possible age and can assist with growth and development with young children. In her spare time, Robyn writes a blog http://shortandsweetmusic.blogspot.co.za/ that provides information about the instruments that she teaches, as well as some encouragement for music parents and students. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Stuart, who is a software developer and the awesome creator of this website :-) They have a dog Violet who is their first child.
