Performance experience

Robyn has performed at various corporate functions over the years with the Mike McCully’s tribute band. She is in the Trilogy Jazz Band and has her own duo, Dolce Duo that performs regularly.

Teaching experience

Robyn has taught at various local schools in Cape Town since 2007. These include The Jazz Workshop and Rustenburg High School for Girls and Sans Souci. Robyn has a passion for teaching and passing on her knowledge and love for music. She has taught students of various ages and abilities as well as a few with physical and learning disabilities.

Teaching philosophy

Her view is that music is a universal language that all can appreciate and learn and there is nothing better than seeing a student discover this. She believes that it is imperative that students gain enjoyment and satisfaction from their playing. By putting on regular performances of her own and allowing ambitious students to take part, as well as inviting other well-known local performers to participate, Robyn provides a platform whereby her students are able to get a taste of what it is like to be a professional musician. Robyn joined the Wriggle and Rhyme team and opened a branch in the 3rd term of 2015. Wriggle and Rhyme offers classes for babies age 6 months to 18 months and toddlers age 18 months to 3 years. This exciting aspect of the studio means that music really is offered from the youngest possible age and can assist with growth and development with young children.

Enrichment

During her spare time, Robyn writes a blog http://shortandsweetmusic.blogspot.co.za/ that provides information about the instruments that she teaches, as well as some encouragement for music parents and students. She enjoys spending time with her husband, son and dog.
